Steve Moyes, from Oblong, passed away on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 at the age of 55 while enjoying his favorite hobby – hunting.  He is the son of Paul and Donna Moyes.  He grew up in Olney, Illinois with his brother and sister, David Moyes and Paula Moyes-Moskovitz.  Steve was the proud father of two sons, Jeremy and Brett, who shared their father’s love of the outdoors.  Brett and his wife, Whitney, are expecting their first child, Kenneth, in July and Steve was excited about becoming a grandfather.  He was also a loving uncle to his nephews Nathan, Rhyan, Levi and Eric and great nephews Wesley and Layne.  He spent much of his time with his long time companion, Gail Chapman, and his friends Toad, Randy and Don.  Steve will be greatly missed.

Steve graduated from East Richland High School in 1974 and served four years in the US Army.  After returning home, he worked with his cousin in petro maintenance and then as a dispatcher for R&R Carriage.  He also enjoyed taking care of animals with Gail at Canine Corner in Willow Hill.  When not enjoying his time hunting or fishing, Steve could be found relaxing with his family and friends.

Steve’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all of the volunteers involved in the search effort and to the people and organizations who provided food and water for those volunteers.
