Celebration of Sandra’s life will be Saturday April 8, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong, IL.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at a later date.

Sandra Jo “Sandy” Hicks, 79, of Olney, IL formerly of Oblong, IL passed away on Friday March 31, 2017 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, IL.
Sandy was born in Palestine, IL on February 23, 1938 to Paul Shield Jr. and Ruth (Spencer) Shields. On January 14, 1980 she married Leslie Hicks who preceded her in death on September 12, 2012.
Sandy worked as a registered nurse for 25 years in several locations. She also worked in the admissions department at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, IL and had previously been a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Robinson, IL and a former member of the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church of Oblong. Sandy moved to Oblong/Robinson, IL in 1978 from Tallahassee, FL. She attended grade school and some high school in Oblong but graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, MI in 1956. In 1975 she graduated from the Nursing Program at Olney Central College. Sandy was very active in the churches that she attended. Sandy enjoyed reading. When she lived in Florida she enjoyed taking care of horses, dogs and other animals.
Sandy is survived by one son and daughter-in-law James and Cheryl Harding, Decatur, IL; one daughter Melissa Reed, Olney, IL and her fiancé Jeffery Miller Detroit, MI; three grandchildren Christy and Eric Drum, Stoy, IL, J.D. and Anne Baud, Robinson, IL, and Jessica and Seth Brooks, Eagan, MN; five great grandchildren Brandon Morris, Terre Haute, IN, Sydney Drum, Stoy, IL, Chad Drum, Stoy, IL , Amy Brooks, Eagan, MN and Iva Baud, Robinson, IL. Sandy is also survived by special friends Susan Nssar, Tallahassee, FL and Jean Rain, West York, IL.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Hicks, one daughter Susan Baud and son-in-law Jonathan Reed.
