A Celebration of Roy Dean’s life will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2013 ~ First Christian Church, 206 North Range Street, Oblong, Illinois.

Roy Dean Jordan, 77, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 9:38 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois.
Born in Crawford County, Illinois on January 13, 1936, he was the son of James William Jordan and Dolly (Bailiff) Jordan. He was a self-employed carpenter and minister serving Bethany Church, Bible Chapel Church and Berlin Congregational Christian Church. He was a former member of the Berlin Congregational Christian Church, rural Oblong, Illinois and present member of the Oblong Wesleyan Church, Oblong, Illinois. He served on the Bend School Board in the mid to late 1960’s; 4-H Leader; served on the Oblong School Board in the late 1970’s; held numerous offices in the church: Deacon, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader and Pastor for 25 years. Roy Dean enjoyed fishing and riding motorcyles for several years.
On June 1, 1956, Roy Dean married Ireta Henderson, who survives. Also surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Dean & Pam Jordan; a daughter and son-in-law, Konita “Lynn” & Danny Shedelbower; three grandchildren, Eric & Kristen Jordan, Ryan & Jessica Jordan and Laci & Cody Pethtel; four great-greatgrandchildren, Reese & Kaylen Jordan, Colbi Pethtel and Hannah Jordan and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy Dean was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Russell Daniel Jordan.
It was Roy Dean’s wish to be cremated and cremation rites were accorded and burial will be at a later date.
