Visitation will be Monday March 20, 2017 from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong, IL. Per the family’s request there will only be Military rights conducted by the Oblong American Legion Post # 219 following the visitation. Burial will be at a later date.
The family request that an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Crawford County Veteran’s Transportation Fund or VFW Post 4549 with envelopes available at or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home PO Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.
Roger D. Shook, 78, Oblong, IL passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL.
Roger was born in Jasper County, Illinois on June 10, 1939 to Roy Shook and Pearl (Miller) Shook. On January 26, 1965 he married Lillie P. (Utley) Shook who preceded him in death on November 26, 2008.
Roger had worked for Robinson Manufacturing (Ettelbrick Shoe Company) and the Oblong Township doing road maintenance. Roger had also served in the Army National Guard.
Roger is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Donald and Renee Shook of Robinson, IL; one daughter Teresa Reynolds of Oblong, IL and stepson Jimmy Newman, Flat Rock , IL; grandchildren Heather Shook, Columbia, LA, Levi and Daci Reynolds, Flat Rock, IL and Mickey Shook, Robinson, IL. Roger is also survived by two brothers and sister-in-law Howard and Gladys Shook, Plainview, TX, Raymond Shook, Greenup, IL; one sister Velma McCormick, St. Mary’s, OH and two sisters-in-law Dorla Shook and Carol Shook both of Oblong, IL along with several nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Brothers Paul, Herman, Lloyd and Argo Shook and one sister Blanche Snider.
