CELEBRATION OF MURL’S LIFE SERVICE: 3 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong with Bro. Justin Sweitzer and Rev. Mick Laflin officiating. Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery next to his first wife Eslie (Faught) Krick.

Murl J. Krick, 102, Oblong, IL passed away at 3:47 a.m. Illinois time on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.
Murl was born on December 8, 1912 in Oblong, IL and was the son of James Calvin Krick and Ethel (Moomau) Krick. On September 9, 1935 Murl married Eslie Ellen Faught who preceded him in death on December 13, 1973. On May 7, 1990 he married Marie (McCarthy) Thompson who preceded him in death on May 4, 2014.
Murl was a custodian at Oblong High School for 9 years; night manager for the Oblong Theater for 9 years; worked as a roustabout and pumper for the Ohio Oil Company for 33 years, retiring in 1975; worked at First National Bank in Oblong for 5 year, retiring in 1977. Murl was a member of Central United Methodist Church and attended First Baptist Church both in Oblong, IL. Murl was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1930; 50 year member of Oblong Masonic Lodge #644 AF & AM; 32 Degree Mason – Valley of Danville, IL; charter member of the first Oblong Ruritan Club; Oblong Gem City Club; Gold Club at First Financial Bank and Senior Moments Club at First Baptist Church, Oblong, IL. Murl enjoyed gardening, woodworking and working on and repairing clocks.
Murl is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Debra Sue and Steve Trout of Cape Coral, FL; a granddaughter Pam and Mike Hoke of Oblong, IL; 4 grandsons Jim Knell of Normal, IL, Chris Trout of Fort Myers, FL, David and Melody Krick of Oblong, IL and Terry and Jody Krick of Oblong, IL; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law James and Joyce Krick of Shawnee, OK; son-in-law Robert Knell of North Fort Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews and a step-daughter Donna Alexander of Marshall, IL.
Preceding Murl in death were his parents; 2 wives; daughter Janice Ann Knell; son and daughter-in-law David and Judy Krick; grandson Todd Krick and two step sons Delbert Thompson and John Alexander.
