CELEBRATION OF JEANIE’S LIFE: will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL with Bro. Phil Boyd officiating.  A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL.

Mary Imogene “Jeanie” Baker, 86, Oblong, IL passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Jeanie was born on October 6, 1929 in Licking Township Crawford County north of Bellair, IL.  She was the daughter of William Raymond “Ray” Walling and Dovie (Cox) Walling.  On April 1, 1950 she married Cleve Duane “Bake” Baker and they were married for 62 years until Bake’s death in 2013.

Jeanie was a homemaker and farmer’s wife.  She was a member of the E.U. B. Church of Bellair for many years.  Jeanie was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1947; attended Eastern Illinois University, where she was one of the founding members of Delta Zeta Sorority; she was a member of the Oblong 20th Century Club; collected Fenton Glassware; she loved her flowers; gardening; entertaining; making wedding and birthday cakes for many people and in her later years she loved to travel.

Jeanie is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law Jerry and Cindy Baker, Oblong, IL and Randy Baker, Newton, IL; four nieces Sandra Lander of Fair Oaks, CA, Cindy Wade of Rocklin, CA, Erma Fielder of Oblong, IL and Darlene Ferguson of Franklin, TN and one nephew Dale and Margaret Fielder of Oblong, IL.

Preceding Jeanie in death were her parents; husband; a brother Lieutenant Colonel William Keith Walling and a sister Norma Smith.
