Jerry W. Baker, 65, Oblong, IL passed away at 4:33 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.
Born in Robinson, IL on March 29, 1951, Jerry was the son of Cleve Duane “Bake” Baker and Mary Imogene “Jeanie” Walling Baker. On June 11, 1978 he married Lucinda Sue “Cindy” Wilson and she survives.
Jerry graduated from Oblong High School in 1969 and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1974. Jerry was a registered pharmacist at Harmon’s Drug Store in Oblong, IL from 1974 until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Oblong, IL; Oblong Ruritan Club later known as the Oblong Community Club; Chairman of the Oblong Easter Egg Hunt for many years and member of Robinson Elk’s Lodge #1188. Jerry was an avid stamp and coin collector. He also enjoyed flower, vegetable and herb gardening. Jerry and Cindy enjoyed traveling across the United States, Africa, Europe and other countries. He enjoyed playing the trombone in the school bands.
Jerry is survived by his wife Cindy Baker of Oblong, IL; brother Randy Baker, Newton, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Judy Wilson, Bethalto, IL; three nephews Ted Wilson, St. Louis, MO, Joe Wilson, Jerseyville, IL and Mike Wilson Bethalto, IL along with several cousins.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents and a nephew Matthew Wilson.
