CELEBRATION OF HAROLD’S LIFE: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Pulliam Funeral Home with Rev. Mick Laflin officiating. Burial will follow at Oblong Cemetery with Military Rites conducted at the grave by Oblong American Legion Post #219.

Harold G. Otey, 90, Oblong, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2015. He was at the Magnolia Center at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.
Harold was born on August 16, 1924 in Oblong, IL. He was the son of Samuel Scott Otey and Bertha Maude (Beabout) Otey. On November 27, 1946 he married Neva Irene Lindsey, the love of his life and she survives.
Harold was Shift Foreman in the Products Control Dept. at Marathon Oil Refinery in Robinson, IL for 35 years, retiring in 1983. Harold served his country during WWII serving in the U. S. Army Air Force. He made 61 bombing missions and one place crash. He was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1942, Central United Methodist Church, Oblong as well as a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and relaxing by sitting next to a lake or stream. Harold especially enjoyed the time that he spent with friends and family.
Harold is survived by his wife Neva Otey of Oblong, IL.; three daughters and two sons-in-law Diana K. and Paul Smith of Mitchell, IN, Brenda G. and David Richart of Robinson, IL. and Beverly A. Otey of Evanston, IL.; seven grandchildren Scott Smith and fiance’ Christine Samsil of Paoli, IN, Chris and Missy Smith of Indianapolis, IN, Lindsey and Trent Seitzinger of Mitchell, IN., Michael and Jodie Richart, Daniel and Laura Richart and Steven and Christina Richart all of Robinson, IL, and Josh Will of Evanston, IL.; thirteen great-grandchildren and spouses: Jamie and A. J. Johnson, Evan and Nikki Earl, Alix and Louie Kirts, Ben Seitzinger, Ava Seitzinger, Jesse Richart, Jason Richart, Kaitlyn Richart, Christy Richart, Carlie Bradbury, Emily Bradbury, Abby Bradbury and Owen Garrard and five great-great grandchildren: Ike Johnson, Cadance Wagers, Jeremyah Wagers, Ryder Earl and Jordyn Kirts; sister Ida Mae Jordan of Jackson, MO.; four sisters-in-law Dortha Otey of Midland, MI, Blodwyn Price of Oblong, IL., Imogene Lindsey and Mary Lou Lindsey both of Robinson, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Harold in death were his parents, one son Gary Otey (2012); son-in-law Daniel Daley; three brothers Leo, Gilbert, and Kenneth Otey; four sisters Pauline Smith, Sara Ruth Howard, Marguerite Heldt and Mary K. Kernohan.
