Harold Duane Judy, 89, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 7:20 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. He was born on July 4, 1923, in Millerville, Lawrence County, Illinois. He was the son of Charles Benjamin “Ben” Judy and Jessie Mae Westall Judy. He served in the U. S. Army in the China Burma India Theater from March 1943 to December 1945. He was a member of the 472nd Quartermaster Truck Regiment. He was wounded and lay in the hospital bed for 3 months before returning to duty. Harold grew up in the oil fields of Lawrence County and had a passion for all aspects of the oil industry. He took oil field classes while a student at Bridgeport Township High School, graduating in 1941. He was employed with the Ohio Oil Company (later Marathon Oil) from 1946 – 1986 as a pumper and later as a well tester. He was a member of the Hardinville Christian Church. He enjoyed traveling especially driving to Alaska, hunting, taking care of his lawn and garden and visiting with his family.
Harold married Doris Monzelle Combs, the love of his life, on January 7, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2008. They celebrated 62 years together. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Cecil Judy; a grandson, Michael Duane Clark and a brother-in-law, Dorman Combs.
Harold is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl & Dale Clark and Vicki & Paul Cook; four grandchildren, Tim & Christie Clark, Brian & Lucinda Cook, Jody & Kelvin Saunders and Kristi & Matthew Brady; eleven great-grandchildren, Marshall, Landen, and Lenora Clark, Brennan, Lydia and Layla Cook, Eden, Jadon and Petra Saunders and Malaya and Elliana Brady; a sister, Lucille & Marvin Isenhower; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Judy and Jean Combs.
Bro. Jeff Brinkman will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Park, Claremont, Illinois.
