CELEBRATION OF ELZORA’S LIFE service at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL with Rev. Jim Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.

Elzora Sanders, 86, of Oblong, IL passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.  She was a resident at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL.

Elzora was born on July 29, 1929 in Crawford County, rural Oblong, IL and was the daughter of Thomas Franklin Davis and Osie Erman (Dennis) Davis.  On August 30, 1948 she married Floyd A. Sanders and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1987.

Elzora was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1948.  She was the laundress/cooks helpers at Oblong High School from 1961 ~ 1989 when she retired.  She was a homemaker who was very proud of her family.  Elzora was a member of the Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Oblong American Legion Auxiliary.  Elzora was the Grand Marshall for the 2015 Oblong High School Homecoming parade.  She enjoyed watching TV, playing Bingo and was a people watcher.

Elzora is survived by her son Roger Sanders, Oblong, IL and Kathy Slankard Ste. Marie, IL; a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Ronny Griffin, Coolidge, GA; four grandchildren: Jon and Laura Sanders, Valparaiso, IN; Diana and Jim Lemons, Bruceville, IN; Christina and Henry Ray, Phoenix, AZ; and Dustin and Stephanie Griffin, Cairo, GA;  a step granddaughter Kelly and Josh Smith, Thomasville, GA; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and three step great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Elzora in death were her parents; her husband; one great-granddaughter Kari Weir; two brothers Russell Davis and Gerald Davis and one sister Victoria Bailey.
