Ralph Dart passed away on Wednesday Sept. 20, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital, Newburgh, IN.

Ralph was born on Sept. 13, 1935 in Hunt City, IL and was the son of Carl and Ethel (Vance) Dart. On February 15, 1956 he married Marjory “Marge” Hightshoe in Lowell, Mass. They were married for 61 wonderful years.

Ralph was a lifelong farmer and an oil lease owner and operator. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 – 1958. He was a member and Deacon of the First Christian Church, Oblong, IL where he belonged to the Thursday night co-weds Game Night group. He was a member of the Oblong Antique Tractor and Engine Club as well as the Oblong Community Service Club. Ralph enjoyed old country music; square dancing; old western movies and cowboy music. He supported the local FFA and 4H organizations. Ralph loved going to Branson, MO with special friends Curt and Sandy Ross. Most of all, Ralph loved his family.

Ralph is survived by his wife Marge Dart, Oblong, IL; son and daughter-in-law Michael “Mike” and Karen Dart, Oblong, IL; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Orville York, Oblong, IL; 4 grandchildren Alicia and Danny Haberlin, Oblong, IL, Thomas Dart, Champaign, IL, Austin York, Oblong, IL and Chance York, Oblong, IL: 2 great- grandchildren Delia and Caden Haberlin; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law Dean and Betty Dart , Oblong, IL, Bob and Beverly Dart, Oblong, IL and Gene and Jane Dart, Robinson, IL; a brother-in-law David Hightshoe and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ralph in death were his parents and a grandson Matthew Joseph Dart.

Military Rites at the cemetery will be conducted by the Oblong American Legion Post #219.
