A Celebration of Billie’s Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday March 28, 2018 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Internment of cremated remains in Mound Cemetery will be at a later date.
The family requests that an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Oblong High School Art Department or the Oblong Food Pantry with envelopes at or may be mailed to the Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.
Billie Fay Cox, 80, Oblong, IL passed away on Saturday March 24, 2018 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL.
Billie was born in Oblong, IL on July 6, 1937 and was the daughter of James L. Woods and Dortha E. (York) Woods. She married Francis “Bill” Cox Sr. on November 25, 1955.
Billie worked at Fair Rite as a molder for many years. She also worked at United Technology in Newton, IL as a welder and for many years as a CNA at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL and Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. Billie was a member of the Berlin Church rural Oblong. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs; reading her Bible and going to church, picking hickory nuts and loved cooking. Billie especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband Bill Cox Sr. of Oblong, IL; son and daughter-in-law Bill Jr. and Cheryl Cox, of Oblong, IL; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Brian Lingafelter of Oblong, IL; two grandchildren Will Cox, of Oblong, IL and Chassey Lingafelter of Oblong, IL; a sister Charleenes Boelt of Munster, IN as well as several nieces and nephews.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents; infant son Vincent Everett Cox; four brothers George, Roy, Grant and Jim Jr. Woods and three sisters Helen Parkhill, Louise Waggoner and Arleenes Davis.
