Archie G. “Sunny” Coker, 87, Oblong, IL passed away Tuesday afternoon January 26, 2016 at his home in Oblong, IL.
Archie was born in Sturgis, KY on June 9, 1928 and was the son of Archie Coker and Mary Ruth (Jackson) Coker. He was married to Eva Sue (Hudson) Coker who preceded him in death on December 23, 2014.
Archie and Sue owned Archie’s Place in Oblong, IL for seven to eight years. He retired from Bunker Hill Supply Company in 1979. Archie helped several area farmers for many years. He was involved in many clubs and organizations both in California and Illinois. Archie enjoyed being outside, especially gardening, yard work and farming.
Archie is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Greg and Theresa Coker, Newton, IL; a daughter and son-in-law Kristina and Jeff Shipman, Oblong, IL; seven grandchildren Kelsey Shipman, Karley Shipman Kassey Shipman, Gage Coker, Zack Coker, Peighton Coker and Alana Coker; as well as several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Sandy Coker.
Preceding Archie in death were his parents; wife; and four sisters Kathy Purky, Dorothy Coker, Gin Fouty and Anna Snead.
