Amy F. Shields, 86, rural Oblong, Illinois passed away at 2:44 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Born in Crawford County, Illinois, the Stoy area on December 10, 1925, she was the daughter of Harlen Otto & Rose Miller. She was employed with a canning factory in Fairmount, Indiana and also a homemaker. She was a member of the Oblong Antique Tractor and Engine Club. She had no time for hobbies ~ she was busy raising her family.
On September 28, 1947, she married Chester W. “Chet” Shields, who preceded her in death on June 13, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Donald L. “Don” Shields; two brothers, Vern “Bud” Robinson and James W. Miller and two sisters, Bessie Bickers and Betty Price.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Rex & Joyce Shields, Bob Shields, Ed Shields and Jack & Chris Shields; two daughters and son-in-law, Sharon & Tom Haley and Rose Shields; nine grandchildren, Andy Haley, Cathy Sheridan, Jenny Haley, Travis Shields, Donna Hoke, Amy Judy, Jesse Shields, Tyler Shields, Donnie Shields; three step-grandchildren, Vicki Baker, Jeremy Miller and Jennifer Wilson; five great-grandchildren, Thomas Yohe, Kelsey Inboden, Andrea Haley, Allen Hoke, Jarreth Pinkston; nine step-great-grandchildren, Ariel Wilson, Caitlyn Wilson, William Wilson, Allison Miller, Brooke Miller, Ethan Miller, Baylee Baker, Jesse Baker and Cascinda Sheridan; a sister-in-law, Edna Miller and several nieces and nephews.
Bro. Rick Catt will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
