Ruby L. Sholders, 97, Oblong, Illinois, passed away at 12:25 A.M. Saturday July 24, 2010 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. Ruby was born on January 16, 1913, in Klondike, IL. which was located east and south of Landes, IL. in Lawrence County, Illinois. She was the daughter of William Sherman York and Mary Jane (Bridwell) York. On January 16, 1929, she married Ivan V. Sholders who preceded her in death on February 10, 1966. Ruby and Ivan were blessed with five wonderful children. Ruby was a homemaker and worked at the Ettlebrick Shoe factory in Robinson for many years. She was a member of Prior Grove Baptist Church, rural Oblong but she also attended Oblong First Christian Church. Ruby enjoyed gardening, cooking and most of all her family.

Ruby is survived by three sons and daughters-in-laws Harold & Jane Sholders, Garold & Marilyn Sholders and Terry Sholders; one daughter and son-in-law Janit & Finley Provines; eleven grandchildren; thirty three great- grandchildren; ten great- great- grandchildren; one niece Beverly McDowell and a nephew Don York.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter and son-in-law Lois Shew on Nov. 28, 2003 and Clarence Shew on July 13, 2010; three grandsons Dewayne and Dwight Shew and Ricky Sholders; one granddaughter Susan Elaine Sholders; two great-great-granddaughters: Crystal Shew & Vickie Provines and a granddaughter-in-law, Connie Provines; one brother Otis York; and one sister Lillian Easter York.

Burial will be next to her husband Ivan in the Hardinville Cemetery.
