Lois J. Pugh, 82, Hardinville,IL. passed away at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.

Lois was born in Geneva, IL on Aug. 27, 1927, the daughter of Eva K. Wiesbrock and Louis F. Perusse. She was employed with the Social Security Administration, Vincennes, IN for 32 years. Lois also owned and operated Wise Owl Book Store in Oblong for 10 year. She was of the Catholic faith. She was a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employee’s) and the American Humane Society. Her hobbies included being an avid reader, crocheting, watching basketball and football the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics.

She married Paul Rusher, who preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1965. On Dec. 2, 1967, she married Russell G. “Curly” Pugh, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two daughters, Sandra (Sandy) Sue Smith and Deborah A. Carter.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward Lee & Deborah Louise Rusher; one daughter and son-in-law, Jody Kuter-Fitch. & Lonnie Fitch; one step-son, Russell G. Pugh; three step-daughters, Rose Martinez, Linda Hume, and Reda Hartness; one son-in-law, David Smith; nine grand-children, seven step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlyn Peterson and one nephew, David Munday.

The funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong with Larry McCormick officiating. Visitation is will be one hour before the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at or mail to the funeral home.

Russell G. “Curly” Pugh, 75, died May 4, 1999, was cremated and his cremated remains held for interment.

Russell was born in Cisne, IL on Aug. 4, 1923, the son of Russell Standford Pugh and Elise J. Shelby. He served in the U. S. Army from 1940 – 1941. He was a welder at Caterpillar in Aurora, IL. He moved to Hardinville in 1971 where he farmed and became Road Commissioner for Martin Township. He was a member of the Ingraham Christian Church, Ingraham, IL; Robinson Moose Lodge #1869; Robinson Masonic Lodge #25 AF & AM for 19 years and a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local #181 Aurora, IL.

Combined committal service of Lois and Russell’s cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Hardinville Cemetery. Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong is in charge of the arrangements.
