Richard H. Condrey, 74, Glen Carbon, IL and formerly of Oblong, IL passed away Friday, September 24, 2010, at his residence following several months of failing health. Born in Licking Twp., Crawford County, IL on December 22, 1935, he was the son of Hamlin Condrey and Golden (Richart) Condrey. Richard attended Dogwood School, Oblong High School, graduated from the University of Illinois earned advanced degrees from Indiana State University and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, IL. He served with the U. S. Army Reserves. He was a Principal and teacher at Alton Public Elementary Schools for many years, referreed High School and Junior College Basketball. Richard's lifelong interest in sports and his personal warmth engendered many friendships. He will be remembered with affection for his vitality, enthusiasm, dedication and optimism. He was a loving and supportive husband and father, He was the ultimate all-around good guy.

On April 24, 1964, he married Donna Price, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Frank Condrey and David Condrey; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph "Smitty" & Sue Condrey; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary & Bill Braden; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a special daughter, Queenie Phu. He is preceded in death by his parents.
