Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 At Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL Masonic Service: Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 - During The Memorial Service Military Rites: Full Military Rites Conducted By Oblong American Legion Post #219 Memorials: Illinois Oil Field Museum ~ Envelopes at or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois Born May 14, 1921, in Oblong, IL, he was the son of William Chronic and Marie Esther (Whetstone) Chronic. He was a graduate of Oblong Township High School ~ Class of 1940. June 1940 he joined the U. S. Air Corps in Rantoul, IL. Homer was a link trainer instructor during W. W. II. He held the rank of Staff Sgt. He was employed with the Pure Oil Company and later retired from Marathon Oil Company as a roustabout from 1950 - 1971. Homer was a member of the Crawford County Christian Center, Robinson, IL; past Master of the Oblong Masonic Lodge 644 AF & AM and he also served on the Church Board, served as an Usher and was a Sunday School Teacher. On August 17, 1946, he married Dorothy “Imogene” Patterson, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2005. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Fred Jerome Chronic, April 9, 1996, and two brothers, Stanley Chronic and Noel Henry Chronic. Survivors include two grandchildren, Jason W. Chronic and Jeri Lea Chronic; two great-grandchildren, Dillion Lawhead and Gavin Chronic; and two sisters, Olivia Dennis and Loretta & Don Brough. Rev. Richard Houser is in charge of the Memorial Service. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois. |
