Joseph "Carl" York, 71, Oblong, Illinois, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. He was born in Robinson, Illinois on June 17, 1938, he was the son of Joseph Carl York and Orpha Pauline Darnold. He was employed in production at Tempco Products, Robinson for 15 years; farmer; and welder for Bradford Supply, Robinson for 17 years.

On December 27, 1958, he married Doretta Scull, who survives. They had been married for 50 years. Also surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry Scull, Joe & Cindy York and Jim & Shara York; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne & Larry Garrard and Dee Anna & Ron Jennings; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Emerson & Bell York and Darrell & Linda Point; two sisters, Mary Wilkie and Janet Hillard; sister-in-law, Emmaline Scull; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.

Rev. Leonard Waller will officiate the service with burial in the Watts Cemetery.
