Darrel A. Yager, 84, The Bend, rural Jasper County, Illinois, passed away at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at his residence. Born in Jasper County, IL on July 13, 1924, he was the son of Ernest Yager and Leo Merle (Ziegler) Yager. He served with the U. S. Army during W. W. II. He was a life long farmer. Darrel was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932 and Jasper County Farm Bureau. His hobbies included gardening; woodworking and restoring antique tractors.

On Sept. 9, 1950, he married Hattie Mary Goss, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Lesa Jo Yager and Jay Yager; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda & Tom Fear; five grandchildren, Candace & Chris Cotton, Alisha Fear, Tyler, Levi & Cody Yager; one great-grandson, Caden Cotton; one sister, Betty Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons: Dennis Darrel and Randal Wayne Yager; one brother, Stanley "Buck" Yager.

Burial will be in the Yager Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
