Esther A. Watts 91, Whittier, California, died Tuesday December 30, 2008 at her residence in Whittier. She was born October 9, 1917 in Charleston, Illinois and was the daughter of Floyd and Ruth (Lutz) Adair. On November 23, 1938 she married Lorie O. Watts Sr. who preceded her in death on October 2, 2005. Esther was a grade school teacher in Arthur, Illinois, Collinsville, Illinois, Buena Park, California and Whittier, California retiring in 1977 after teaching for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Genealogical Societies in Crawford, Coles, Clark and Jasper Counties as well as the Illinois State Genealogical Society. Esther was also a member of Sullivan County, Indiana and Whittier, California Genealogical Societies. Esther took up Genealogy as a hobby in 1968 and she squared danced for 35 years.

Esther is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law Lorie Watts Jr and Terry "Lee" Watts and his wife Kathy Asta; 4 grandchildren Nicholas Watts, Tommy Watts, Steven Watts and Cassandra Asta: 1 great granddaughter – Kahea Kahealoa; 3 brothers and sisters-in-laws Jack Adair, Jerry & Lelia Adair and John & Carol Adair; 5 sisters and brothers-in-laws Marian Piersma, Gina & Dave Scruggs, June Bell, Joanne & Orville Lawyer and Nancy Lawson; brother-in-law – Bill Carlyle as well as several nieces and nephews.

Esther's parents; husband; 1 brother Dick Adair: 2 sisters –Lorrain Kass & Jean Carlyle; 3 brothers-in-laws – Simon Piersma, George Kass and Clinton Watts; 1 daughter-in-law Bea Watts preceded her in death.

Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery.
