M. Alice Turnipseed, 95, Oblong, Illinois, passed away at 3:05 P.M. on Monday October 5, 2009, at the Dwight Miller Convalescent Center Robinson, Illinois. She was born on December 16, 1913 in Bryant, Indiana in Jay County. Alice was the daughter of Cletus LeRoy Manor and Ruby Alice (Whitestone) Manor. On July 27, 1931 she married Andrew Albert Irey who died on July 21, 1958. Alice then married Austin Berl Turnipseed on February 14, 1961 and preceded her in death on June 2, 1982.

Alice was a beautician and a farmer. She was a member of the White Oak Church, rural Oblong, Morning Glories Home Extension Unit – Oblong, Graduated High School in 1986 with Four A’s and one A+ at the age of 73 from Stonington High School, Pawcatuck, CT. Alice enjoyed making blankets, knitting, and playing Dominoes, especially the game “42”.

Alice is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws Mike Edwin & Mary Irey and James Andrew “Shorty” & Ivonne Irey; twenty grandchildren; and several great and great – great grandchildren; two step daughters and a step son Margaret & Larry Edgington and Ethel Tuel; a sister-in-law Marjorie Manor; and a nephew Joe Manor.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two Husbands; one daughter Vivian Rice; one brother Hal Manor and a step-son Gene Turnipseed.

Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery.
