Elry “Bus” Schoonover, 96, Mt. Vernon, Indiana, formerly of Pierceburg, Illinois, passed away at his residence in Mt. Vernon, Indiana at  5:15 P.M. Friday April 17, 2009. Elry was born on August 13, 1912, in Kiefer, Oklahoma and was the son of Frank N. Schoonover and Alice Mary (Engle) Schoonover. In 1930, Elry married Myrtle Irene Cunningham and she preceded him in death on July 6, 1991. Elry was a welder for the Ohio Oil Company; Operated, a repair garage in Pierceburg, Illinois for many years and was a Finished Woodworker. He was a member of the Berlin Christian Church, rural Oblong. Elry was raised on a farm and learned to all the chores. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, cooking, making tools and furniture and enjoyed reading. He was very talented at anything he did.
 
Elry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law  Jack & Patricia Schoonover; a daughter  Patricia Schoonover;  Four grandchildren  Pamela & Steve Grenard, Joe & Paula Schoonover, Cindy & Joe Moran and Melodie & Duane Crits;  Six Great grandchildren
Adam Schoonover, Ryan & Samantha Schoonover, Brad Moran, Felicia & Jeff DeVault, Selena & Ryan Parks and Katie Schoonover; Four Great Great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
 
His parents; wife; Two brothers Frank & Harold Schoonover and Two sisters  Dena Utterback and Marie Davenport all preceded Elry in death.
 
Bro. Jack Cunningham will officiate and burial will be in Oblong Cemetery.
