Robert V. “Bob” Russell, 82, Oblong, Illinois passed away Friday August 7, 2009 at 10.50 p.m. at his residence. He was born on June 8, 1927 in Martin Township Crawford County, Illinois. He was the son of John and Perlina F. (Parker) Russell. On August 19, 1956 he married Joan Fritz. Bob worked at his father John Russell’s saw mill, was a carpenter and a farmer. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. Bob was a member of the Oblong First Baptist Church, Oblong High School Class of 1944, Crawford County V.F.W. Post #4549 and was a Charter Member of the Oblong Antique Tractor and Engine Club. Bob liked to attend steam engine shows, had his own steam engine, playing pool and hunting.

Bob is survived by his wife Joan; two sons and daughters-in-laws John Edward & Deborah “Debbie” Russell and James William & Kimberly Ann Russell; six grandchildren Robert & Melinda Russell, George & Gail Russell, Emmie Jo Russell,
William Ova Russell, Lucas Donnal Russell and Clara Jean Russell; eight great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bob in death we his parents; five brothers Hugh, George and Albert Russell, John Henry and an infant brother; four sisters Florence Russell, Emma Rhyne, Laura Francis and an infant sister.

Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois
