Norma R. Rice, 72, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 11:29 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois. Born in Flat Rock, Illinois on February 15, 1937, she was the daughter of Allen Smith and Ghloe Higgins. On November 2, 1957, she married Paul Rice. She was an assembler at Casey Tool, Casey, Illinois and also a homemaker. Norma enjoyed cooking.

Norma is survived by one son, Jeff Rice; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie & Terry Ruddell and Lori & Duane Yager; four grandchildren, Lauren & Lyndee Ruddell, Cody Yager and Tyler Rice; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Ray & Rosemary Smith and Allen & Joann Smith; sister-in-law LaVonne Smith; five sisters and brother-in-law, Josephine Attaway, Margie Denton, Barbara Sharp, Shirley Warren and Betty & Ronnie Ulrey; and several nieces and nephews.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; one son: Mark Douglas Rice; four brothers, Byrl Rich, Charles, Jesse & Carl Smith; and one brother-in-law, Robert Denton.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
