Otis E. Potter, 81, of Flat Rock, IL. formerly of Oblong, went to be with the Lord at 10 P.M. Friday May 22, 2009. He was in the Skilled Care unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. Otis was born March 16, 1928 in Oblong, Illinois and was the son of Otis V. Potter and Cleo M. (Dennis) Potter. On January 10, 1949, he married Wanda M. Lansbery who preceded him in death on May 1, 1993. On July 30, 1995, he married Patty (Miller) Seaney, who survives. Otis worked at Kirtland Lumber Company in Oblong; Victor Dana in the maintenance Dept. retiring in 1993. He also farmed for many years. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Robinson Wesleyan Church and had attended Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church in Oblong. Otis was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219; former member of the Lawrenceville Eagle Lodge; Otis loved to farm, travel, gardening, collected belt buckles, coon hunting and attending the events that his grandchildren were in and helping his neighbors.

He is survived by his wife Patty Potter; two sons and daughters-in-laws Alan & Lori Potter and Rick and Freda Potter; a daughter Sandra K. Potter; five grandchildren Rob & Heather Potter, Cory & Jennifer Potter, Jennifer & Michael Cheesman, Alana Potter and Justin Potter; six great grandchildren Tyler, Marisa, Nick & Bryanna Potter and Michael and Abbygail Cheesman; a half sister Vivian & George Dorney; six step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; Mother-in-law Dot Hart; Brothers-In-laws and Sisters-in-laws Peter & Wanda Lansbery, Ray & Virginia Lansbery, David & Phyllis Miller and Jack Miller; Sisters-in-laws and Brothers-in-laws Susan & Randy Burtch, and Betty & Bill Lindsey as well as several nieces and nephews.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents; First Wife and half brother Donald Burris.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery with Military Rites provided by Oblong American Legion Post #219.
