MILITARY RITES: Conducted by Oblong American Legion Post #219 at the cemetery.

Harold W. “Woody” Mundhenk, 88, Robinson, Illinois, passed away at 12:01 A.M. on Saturday February 28, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Lawrence County, Illinois on March 9, 1920. He was the son of Harvey “Jack” Mundhenk and Mallissa Jane (Allison) Mundhenk. On May 6, 1941, Woody married Lieuetta Sholders, who passed away on April 7, 1996. He married Bernice (Thompson) Smith on June 28, 1997 and she survives. Woody farmed and for many years worked in the oil fields for many companies but in 1968 came to the Marathon Refinery in Robinson and worked there until his retirement from the Production Department in 1979. Woody served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Prior Grove Baptist Church, Oblong American Legion Post #219, Martin Township Board as well as the Hardinville School Board for many years. Woody enjoyed gardening, woodworking, tinkering with anything, going to auctions and fishing.

Woody is survived by his wife Bernice, three sons and daughters-in-laws Danny & Becky Mundhenk, Kenneth & Sue Mundhenk and De Wayne & Kay Mundhenk; a daughter and son-in-law Nila & Harold Short; step daughter Becky & Randy Tracy; seven grandchildren and three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; a sister Thelma Mundhenk; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; first wife; three brother two infant and Alva Mundhenk; and two sisters Carrie Emory and Nora Paddick.

Burial will be in the Hardinville Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Oblong American Legion Post #219.
