George O. Midgett, 68, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 7:02 A.M. EDT Friday, July 24, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana. Born on August 11, 1940, in Martin Township, Crawford County, IL he was the son of George Richard Midgett and Esther Emma (Hippler) Midgett. He was employed with Tempco, Robinson, IL as a welder; a die maker at Victor Dana, Robinson, IL for 35 1/2 years and also farmed for many years. He was affiliated with the Seed Chapel Church, rural Oblong. George was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and just being outdoors.

On November 5, 1960, he married Joan Kitchen, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Ron Midgett and Bill & Karen Midgett; five grandchildren, Amanda & Gary Trouth, Tracey Midgett, Jason Midgett, Tonya Midgett & Trevor Ace Midgett; three great-grandchildren, Armando Arteaga, Amadeo Arteaga and Alyssa Leopard; two sisters, Ruth Adams and Mary Dennis; several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Sandra Midgett.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, John Midgett and two infant children, Johnny Ray & Darla Kay Midgett.

Bro. Dee Wolfe will officiate the funeral service. In accordance with George's wishes his body will be cremated after the service.
