Earnie M. Mendenhall Sr., 77, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2009, at his residence. Born on October 9, 1931, in Crawford County, IL (the Berlin area), he was the son of Benjamin E. Mendenhall Sr. and Connie Mae (Smith) Mendenhall. He was a farmer; former service manager for Bush-Holloway Ford, Chillicothe, IL; and lawn care in the Oblong area for many years. He was a member of the Robinson Wesleyan Church. Earnie enjoyed working on small engines.

On August 4, 1951, he married Neva Marie Piersall, who survives. Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Ed & Julie Mendenhall, Earnie & Paula Mendenhall Jr. and Maurice & Angie Mendenhall; three daughters and sons-in-law,Twyla Rosson, Connie & Rick Clough and Lisa & Frank Yager; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Smith "Buster" & Wanda Mendenhall; one sister, Ruby Bex and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Othel "Chub", Pearl, Earl "Pinky" and Bennie Jr. Mendenhall; two sisters, Edna Scott and Bessie Hale.

Pastor Dan Szombathy will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
