Charles E. "Doc" Lindley, 87, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2009, at the Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Born in Hutsonville, Illinois on November 2, 1921, he was the son of Lyman L. Lindley and Lois Pearce Lindley. He served in the U. S. Army during W. W. II with the Signal Corp. He practiced veterinary medicine in Crawford County from 1952 until 2001. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Oblong; Robinson Elks; American Vet. Medical Association; Int. Veterinary Acupuncture Society; American Holistic Vet. Med. Assoc. and the Oblong Chamber of Commerce. His hobbies included singing in the church choir; playing trumpet and trombone in various dance bands for many years, also playing with the Sycamore Strummers Banjo Band in Terre Haute, Indiana during the 1990's.

On February 16, 1946, he married Jane Craig, who preceded him in death on April 4, 1989. Also preceding him in death were his parents; and one sister, Mary Davis.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig & Roswitha Lindley and Todd & Tricia Lindley; four grandchildren, Andrew Lindley, Timothy Lindley, Patrick Lindley and Jane Lindley; one sister, Maxine Moorhead; and long time friend Marion Stuckey.

Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, Illinois.
