Laura J. Ikemire, 79, Oblong, Illinois passed away on Tuesday February 24, 2009 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. She was born on February 5, 1930 in Salem, Illinois. On December 31, 1955 she married Floyd E. Ikemire, who survives. Laura was a Registered Nurse at the Schmidt Clinic and Director of Nurses at the Allen Sanitarium both in Robinson, Illinois. She retired as School Nurse for Oblong Community Unit School District #4 in 1994 after 28 years. Laura was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Oblong and the Crawford County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed painting pictures and reading.

Laura is survived by her husband Floyd; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Cynthia Ikemire; grandson Eric and Colleen Ikemire; sister-in-law Kathryn Jo Hall; brother-in-law Owen & Raedell Ikemire; and several cousins.

Preceding her in death were her mother Ruth E. (Seaney) York and step father Theo “Cy” York.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery.
