James A. Hammond, 80, Oblong, IL passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at his residence. Born in Toledo, IL on May 10, 1928, he was the son Ira Albert Hammond and Freda Mitchell Miller. He served with the U. S. Army during W.W.II. He was a laborer. He was a member of the Robinson V. F. W. He is survived by his step-mother, Fern Zeisel; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Norma Hammond and James Alan Hammond; one daughter, Judy Hedden; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; companion, Imogene Ziegler; three brothers and sister-in-law, Bobby Miller, Ralph Miller and Raymond & Rose Mary Miller; eight sisters, Rose Mary Garrard, Norma Maxey, Mary Tracy, Alma Keys, Loretta Maddox, Ella Ruth Tracy, Donna Adams and Connie Inman; several aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Lee Hammond and one sister, Hazel Koester. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois |
