Jerry L. German, 65, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at his residence. Born in Rose Hill, Illinois on January 29, 1944, he was the son of Albert E. German and Eva Leon (Coad) German. Jerry was a graduate of Oblong High School ~ Class of 1962. He served with the U. S. Army from 1965 -1967 where he was stationed in Germany. Jerry was employed with Pepsi Mid -America for 40 1/2 years as a route driver, retiring in January 2009. He was a member of the Oblong Evangelical United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and his grandchildren.

On October 26, 1974, he married Judy Schafer, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Jay & Tracey German and Jon German; two grandchildren, Bailey German and Hunter German; one brother and sister-in-law, Jean & Darla German; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joann and Phillip "Bones" Mendenhall and Jill & Larry Tucker; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard & Margaret Schafer; and nieces and nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
