Jack D. Gallion, 80, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Born in Lyman, Oklahoma on August 22, 1928, he was the son of William Gallion and Bessie B. (McKay) Gallion. He was a graduate of St. Elmo High School ~ Class of 1946. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II and Korea. He retired in 1986 from Marathon Oil Company working in the Maintenance Department. He served 20 plus years on the Oblong Village Board. He was a member of the Oblong First Baptist Church; Oblong American Legion Post #219; Oblong V.F.W.; Henpeck C.B. Club; Illinois Retirees Camping Club; Coldfoot Campers. Jack enjoyed camping; woodworking and gardening.

On January 22, 1949, he married Betty Jenkins, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary & Loretta Gallion and James & Judy Gallion; one daughter and son-in-law, Pat & Bobby Tracy; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Loren & Mamie Gallion, John & Eugenia Gallion, Vernon & Donna Gallion and Alfred "Curt" & Pat Gallion; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sharon Freeman; two brothers, Marshall & Lawrence Gallion; and two sisters, Florence Gallion & Wanda Schaffer.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
