FRIDAY MAY 22, 2009 ~ PULLIAM FUNERAL HOME, OBLONG, IL MEMORIALS: OBLONG WESLEYAN CHURCH OR OBLONG LAKE COMMITTEE (FOR LANDSCAPING) - Envelopes at or may be mailed to the Funeral Home MILITARY RITES: FULL MILITARY RITES CONDUCTED BY OBLONG AMERICAN LEGION POST #219 Larry Joe Fear, 72, Oblong, Illinois went to be with the Lord at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana. Born on January 24, 1937, in Jasper County, IL the Willow Hill area, he was the son of Elmer Dewey "Jack" Fear and Gola Ocie Morey. He served with the U. S. Army. He was employed with Briggs Manufacturing as a castor and also worked in the warehouse; he also was employed 34 years as a Sgt. with the Oblong Police Dept. from June 3, 1970 ~ July 22, 2004. He was a member of the Oblong Wesleyan Church; Oblong American Legion Post #219; Fraternal Order of Police; Blue Knight Police Motorcyle Club; Boy Scout Leader; he was active with the Oblong Wesleyan Church where he served as a Trustee. His hobbies included 4-wheeling; camping; music; singing and playing his guitar and his grandchildren and family were the love of his life. On October 16, 1955, he married Esther Louise Wilson, who survivies. Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy & Liz Fear, Michael & Deena Fear and Todd Fear; seven grandchildren, Stacey & Stephanie Fear, Thomas Duka, Brandon & Grant Fear, Kyler and Shalyn Fear; one brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Bob Fear and Jeanette Fear; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ginny & Jack Vaughn and Ramona Crouse; and several nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Loren Fear and one sister, Wanda Keach. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois. |
