Lorraine Harriett Bay, 91, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 11:59 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, Robinson, IL. Born in Ingram, Wisconsin on February 2, 1918, she was the daughter of Robert Sampson and Margaret Louise (Lemke) Sampson. She was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Kurty & receptionist for Dr. Sabin, both of Chicago, Illinois; clerk at Goldblatz in Chicago, Illinois and worked at the Oblong Community Center for many years. Lorraine was a member of the Oblong Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed gardening and scrapbooking.

On December 17, 1936, she married Fredrick Lauritz Bay, who preceded her in death February,1973. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Richard Bay; one great-grandson, Wyatt Bay; three sisters, Vera Churchill, Margaret Sampson and Helen Sampson.

She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Bay; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith & Ralph Goveia; five grandchildren, Kimberly & Steve Miller, Carrie Malone, Robert & Jaime Bay and Michelle & Anthony Debona, Stacy Solis; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bay's wishes were to be cremated following her funeral service. Burial will be at a later date at the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
