Kenneth E. "Ken" Williams, 71, Oblong, Illinois, died Friday June 27, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. Ken was born August 30, 1936 near Moonshine, Illinois in Clark County, Illinois. He was the son of Rex Gerald Williams and Ruth Bernice (Tharp) Williams. On February 14, 1970 he married Donna Dale Murphy. Ken worked at Gary, Indiana Tube works; Matheny Auto Service in Oblong; Crawford County Sheriff's Dept for 23 years and as a bus driver for Oblong Community Unit #4 Schools. He was a member of the Bellair Church of Christ. Ken enjoyed riding horses, coon hunting, Demolition Derbies, and for the last eight years watching his granddaughter play softball.

 

Ken is survived by his wife Donna; a son Kenneth L. "Kent" Williams; a granddaughter

Ashlei Williams;  three brothers and sisters-in-laws James & Sue Williams - Effingham, Richard D. & Candy Williams and Harold Tharp; along with several nieces and nephews.

 

Ken's parents and two brothers Roylee in 1963 and Gerald Tharp in 1969 preceded him in death.

 

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery
