Mae Thompson, 96, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong following a period of declining health. Born in Oblong, on July 23, 1912, she was the daughter of Arthur Dennis and Dessie (Smith) Dennis. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Oblong where she had been a member since 1924.

On September 5, 1933, she married Donald B. Thompson, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1984. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Jean Elizabeth; two sisters, Cleo Burris & Pauline Richey; one brother, Herman Dennis.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald & Norma Thompson and Roy Dean & Barbara Thompson; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene & Donald Gawthorp; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Oscar & Violet Dennis; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernadine Weger, Louise & Bill Black and Gladys & Charles Turman; special nephew Otis Potter who was raised by Arthur and Dessie Dennis; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in the Watts Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
