L. Imogene Shryock, 79, Oblong, passed away at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana. Born in Crawford County (Greenbriar area) on March 11, 1929, she was the daughter of Hugh J. Russell and Goldie M. Nicholson Russell. She was a hairdresser for many years; served as a secretary/bookkeeper in several Crawford County businesses; retired in 1989 as secretary at Oblong Grade School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Oblong where she was a former financial secretary for the Church. Imogene graduated from Oblong High School ~ Class of 1946; attended Vincennes University and was a graduate of Varners Beauty Academy in Paris, Illinois. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, sewing, cooking and her grandchildren. Imogene was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister.

On April 2, 1948, she married N. Raulin Shryock, who preceded her in death on October 4, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Robert W. Miller; one nephew, Jeff Dart; six brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Dart, Clifford Shryock, Dean & Helen Walker, Bill Finnestad, Curt & Virginia Tonderum and Robert Shryock.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Kaye Miller; three grandchildren, Libby & Dimitri Christopoulos, Chris Miller and Amanda & Jason Morris; three great-grandchildren, Elena E. Christopoulos, Leo D. Christopoulos and Beatrice Morris; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie "Jim" & Connie Russell; four sisters and brother-in-law: Charlotte Shryock, Janet Dart, Sue Russell and Pat & Lee Rogers; one brother-in-law, Ray & Margaret Shryock; five sisters-in-law: Martha Mae & Roger Peterson, Opal & Ordean Kabrick, Wanda Finnestad, Nancy Shryock and Dawn Shryock; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Berlin Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois.
