Barbara L. Richards, 61, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008, at her residence. Born in Jasper County, on September 7, 1947, she was the daughter of Claude Cox and Mary Ellen (Fischer) Cox. Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of the the Dogwood United Methodist Church, rural Oblong. She was also a 4-H Leader and a member of the HEA. She loved sewing Elvis outfits; crocheting; gardening; and going with the Amish.

On April 1, 1967, Barbara married Ed Richards, who survives. Also surviving is her mother, Mary Ellen Cox; one son and daughter-in-law Daniel & Rita Richards; one daughter & son-in-law, Marla & Martin Swartsbaugh; three grandchildren, Nicole Richards, Justin Richards and Madison Swartsbaugh; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald & Lois Cox, Ronald & Donna Cox and Dennis & Alice Cox; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barb & Doyle Purcell; several aunts; uncles cousins and one sister-in-law.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father.

Burial is in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
