or may be mailed to the Funeral Home Roger L. Deeter, 74, Oblong, passed away at 5:52 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008, at his residence. Born on October 31,1933 in Covington, Ohio he was the son of John Deeter and Vera Jean Hoops Deeter. He served with the U. S. Army. He retired from Marathon Oil Company as a welder in 1986. He was a member of the Oblong Volunteer Fire Department for 47 years. Roger enjoyed working in his machine shop. On March 2, 1957, he married Nancy Christine Hartrich, who survives. Also surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Nancy Deeter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa & Del Fanning and Christi & David Van Ness; seven grandchildren, Melissa Fanning, Megan Van Ness, Haley Van Ness, Laurel Deeter, A. J. Deeter, Kaci Deeter and Michael Deeter; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill & LaFern Deeter and three nieces Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, David Deeter. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ste. Marie, Illinois. |
