Wanda Frances Wendel, 66, Yale, Illinois passed away at 7:42 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois. Born March 21, 1941, in Harvard, Illinois she was the daughter of Edward John Fitzmaurice and Maggie "Elsie" (Webb) Fitzmaurice. She worked at the Ettlebrick Shoe Factory in Newton, Robinson, Greenup and Casey for 25 years and later at E.R. Moore in Newton, for 20 years before retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Hunt City Congregational Christian Church in Hunt City, IL. Wanda was a graduate of Newton Community High School, Class of 1958. She loved growing rose bushes and watching hummingbirds, finches and her dog "Lacey". She also collected teddy bears and cherished the time she spent with friends and family.

On June 22, 1958, she married George Earl Wendel and he survives. She is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tanya & Randy Hayes; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donnal & Sharon Fitzmaurice and Albert & Edna Fitzmaurice; two sisters and brother-in-law, Linda & Phil McMillen and Joy Fitzmaurice; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
