Betty L. Tipton, 69, of Terre Haute, Indiana formerly of Robinson, Illinois passed away Friday May 19, 2006 at 9:08 E.S.T. at the Davis Garden Nursing Home in Terre Haute, Indiana. Betty was born in Olney, Illinois on April 6, 1937 and was the daughter of Thomas Thompson and Hester (Leigh) Thompson. On October 9, 1954, she married William “Bill” Tipton in Robinson, Illinois and was married for 51 years. Betty was a homemaker having lived in France, Iran, Japan, Okinawa and several states while her husband served 27 years in the United States Army. She was a member of Oblong First Baptist Church and Terre Haute V.F.W. Post #972.

Betty is survived by her husband, Bill of Terre Haute, Indiana; her mother, Hester Thompson of Robinson, Illinois; a daughter, Pamela Kai and husband Mikio of Charleston, Illinois; a son, Terry Tipton and wife Kelly of Millersburg, Ohio; a son, Tim Tipton of Terre Haute, Indiana; a brother, Don Thompson of Robinson, Illinois; a sister, Judy Bailey of Robinson, Illinois; 4 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Alan Tipton; a sister, Virginia Gangloff and her father, Thomas Thompson .

Betty’s request for no visitation will be honored by her family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at 11:00 A.M. C.S.T. Tuesday May 23, 2006 at the Oblong Cemetery with Bro. Rusty Moorecraft officiating.
