Donald "Dean" Stringfellow, 70, Stoy, Illinois died Monday February 27, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana. Dean was born in Hardinville, Illinois on October 14, 1935 and was the son of George & Ellen (Albin) Stringfellow. On March 11, 1962 Dean married Tonya Sue (Waggoner) and she preceded him on December 19, 1998. Dean retired from Crete Oil Company as a backhoe operator. He was a member of the Hardinville United Church, National Rifle Association, former president, board member and coach of the Oblong Girls Softball Association, past trustee for the Village of Stoy, Illinois and a member of the Oblong Sons of American Legion Post #219. Dean's hobbies included shooting, gardening, hunting, fishing, and being a member of a country band where he played clubs in both Illinois and Indiana for over 35 years.

Dean is survived by three daugthers and sons-in-law, Vickie Lynne & Tom Ferguson, Dawn Ellen & Ali Pournik and Debra Gayle & Rob Hawkins; seven grandchildren, Amanda & Ashley Ferguson, Nasreen, Lahdan & Kimiya Pournik and Zachary & Caleb Dean Hawkins; one step-sister, Lorene Moore; and special friends, Cleo Floyd, Danny & Joanne Lawson, Max Riker, Ron & Elizabeth Maxwell, Faye Ferguson, Bill & Billie Cox.

Dean is preceded by his parents, wife, two brothers, Bobby & Joe Stringfellow, step-father, Art Whitmer and one step-brother, Duaine Whitmer.

Burial will be in the Hardinville Cemetery, Hardinville, Illinois.
