the Funeral Home. James A. "Jim" Snider, 90, Oblong, died about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at his residence in Oblong. Born Nov. 1, 1915, in Licking Twp., Crawford County, he was the son of Clyde Pearl Snider and Marie Atwood (Cramer) Snider. He retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1976 where he worked in the Power Plant. He was a member of Prior Grove Baptist Church, rural Oblong and he was a graduate of Oblong High School, Class of 1933. His hobbies included traveling, fishing and camping. On Dec. 24, 1935 he married Catherine Pine, who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1999. Survivors include three sons, Jerry, Art and Tom Snider; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Louise and Michael Karns and Barbara and Clarence Weck; 15 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents; wife; two sons: Richard and Michael Snider and two grandchildren: Jeffrey and Dawn Faught. Burial is in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois. |
