Juanita L. Shafer, 65, Oblong, died at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana. Born February 14, 1941, in Oblong, she was the daughter of George Jabob Dennis and Virginia Lucille (Richey) Dennis. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oblong. Juanita was a graduate of Oblong High School Class of 1959. She was the secretary/treasurer of the Oblong A's Women's Fast Pitch Summer Traveling Softball Team for twelve years. Juanita's interest were reading, embroidering, she was a big fan of softball and she loved going to the movies.

On Oct. 9, 1959 she married Harry L. Shafer, who preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Ruth Inboden.

Survivors include one daughter, Kim Shafer; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy & Shirley Dennis and Tom & Carolyn Dennis; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Hout, Linda & Ivan Graham and Louise & Gerald Huchel; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial is in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
