Thelma J. Higgins, 96, Oblong, Illinois, died Tuesday February 28, 2006 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Thelma was born in Washington, Indiana on September 13, 1909 and was the daughter of Charles and Lillie (Dennis) Mitchell. On April 3, 1954 Thelma married R. Harold Higgins and he preceded her on June 20, 1988. Thelma was a beauty operator from November 1935 - 1994. She was a registered Cosmetologist with the State of Illinois for 59 years. Thelma was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Oblong, Illinois.

Thelma is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Earlene Higgins; one granddaughter, Debbie Higgins Highsmith; one grandson and spouse, Todd & Lisa Higgins; two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie & Riley Higgins; one great-grandson, Tanner Higgins; one sister-in-law: Agnes Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.

Thelma is preceded by her parents, husband, two brothers: Loy & Vinsel Mitchell and three sisters, Maude Musgrave, Mary Maxwell and Nina White.

Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.
