George Linwood Haskell "Lin", 84, passed away quietly following a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 7, 2006. George, along with his wife, Elaine, has resided in Oblong since 1951. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, and long time business owner of Haskell Motors, Oblong.

Born in Augusta, Maine on May 9, 1922, George and his family moved to Illinois later that same year. George and Elaine were married September 4, 1943, in Robinson, Illinois. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine, a daughter, Joeann Haskell-Rushing, son-in-law, Doug Rushing and grandson Steven Rushing. He is also survived by a sister, Norma Williams, a brother, Martin Haskell, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, George and Isabelle, and two brothers, Myron and Bruce.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
