MILITARY RITES CONDUCTED BY: OBLONG AMERICAN LEGION POST #219 Francis L. "Frank" Harris, 86, Hardinville, Illinois died Tuesday January 24, 2006 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Frank was born December 9, 1919 in Jasper County, Illinois and was the son of Irvin F. and Agnes (Michl) Harris. On February 5, 1947 Frank married Monica L. (Finney) and she survives. Frank served in the U. S. Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II, European Theater in telecommunications during the Rhineland Campaign. He was employed by Hammond Decorators in Oblong, Illinois and later in production for Marathon Oil Company for thirty-five years retiring in 1983. Frank was raised in a Catholic family and was christened at St. Valentine Catholic Church, rural Oblong, he attended Hardinville Christian Church. He was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219 and was a past president of the Hardinville School Board. His hobbies included gardening, taking care of his yard, traveling, fishing and he always had time for his grandchildren. Surviving Frank is his wife Monica; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin & Linda Harris and Lindell Harris; four grandchildren, Kendra & Brian Ridlen, Kyle Harris, Matthew Harris and Katie Harris; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Ridlen; two brothers and sister-in-law, Harold Harris and Gene & Mary Harris; several nieces and nephews. Frank is preceded by his parents; and five sisters, Berniece Henry, Edna Yetter Macumber, Esther Cox, Belva Yetter and Ida Mouser. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois. |
