Ethel "Granny" Dart, 89, Oblong, died about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006, at the Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. Born December 18, 1916, in Hunt City Twp., Jasper County, IL, she was the daughter of George Ira Vance and Carrie (Griffey) Vance. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Oblong. Her hobbies included quilting and gardening. She always enjoyed spending time and helping care for her grandchildren. On December 19, 1934 she married Carl E. "Red" Dart who preceded her in death on December 18, 1997.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Marjory Dart, Dean and Betty Dart, Bob and Beverly Dart and Gene and Jane Dart; ten grandchildren, Mike Dart, Diane York, Rod Dart, Jamie Lamb, Lisa Dart, Vicki Inboden, Vance Dart, Denise Huddleston, Doug Dart and Nicki Vaughn; twelve great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers: Ira Vance, Carl Vance and Charles Vance; two sisters, Vera Boyd and Naomi Leffler; and one great-grandson: Matthew Joseph Dart.

Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, Rural Jasper County, Illinois.
